St. Andrew’s is now a member of “CARITAS” the NEW valley wide Catholic Coalition comprised of various Catholic parishes, schools and faith organizations such as the Casa Renewal Center. The coalition was put together to assist Habitat for Humanity in their continuing efforts to build housing for those in need. Being part of CARITAS helps St Andrew’s with its financial commitment towards a build based on the money obtained during our fundraising efforts. In addition to this benefit, it is an opportunity to work alongside various other CARITAS volunteers during our build dates.
This is a big change from past practice. The Catholic Coalition on this “specific” build will be comprised of several Catholic partners including St Andrews. Instead of our parish supplying ALL the 20 to 25 volunteers on a specific date as we have done in the past, from now on, we will have 4 volunteers per build date AND the same number of volunteers from EACH of the other Catholic partners. I do know that Habitat has a general volunteer workforce pool that they use from time to time (I will find out more information on this and forward it to you all). Further should any of the other funding and participating organizations on this build run short of volunteers on a specific date if we are informed in a timely fashion we will put out an e-mail to this effect thus offering more opportunities to volunteer.
