From time to time, our council is given the opportunity to go to the food bank and fill food bags for later distribution to families in need. This involves taking a bag and walking past stacks of cans and other food items. As we pass the different stacks, we grab items from each stack and put those in our bags. When we get to the end of the food stacks, we tie the bags shut and deposit them in a large bin. That bin will be loaded onto a truck for later delivery.

This typically goes on for about 90 or so minutes, and from this description, it sounds like physically demanding work. In reality, it goes by so quickly, and everyone is smiling and joking with each other. We always seem surprised that we’re already done when the last bin is filled.

It’s a blessing that we can serve others and do so in such a happy and joyful setting. Many ask me to set up another time when we can again help cause they want to help others and have fun doing so.
