As we emerge from an exceedingly difficult time, we have an opportunity to bring a new attitude to our relationship with our Lord. Although he has been with us throughout, we may not have always been seeking him. But the parish has now reopened adoration on Wednesdays, from 9:00 am until 6:00 pm. He is there physically waiting for us. At the last supper, he gave us himself, he did not leave us. He remains with us body, blood, soul and divinity. It is time to go to the Lord and remove any distance that may have come into your relationship with him over the last month. Go and be with him, speak to him, and ask him any questions you may have.

Christ, in his perfect love, keeps begging us to love him. He doesn’t give up on us. The only way we can sever our relationship with him is by our own choice. He leaves himself vulnerable to us, exposed in the Holy Eucharist, waiting for us. This sentiment was beautifully stated by St. Peter Julian Eymard, founder of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament:

He loves, He hopes, He waits. If He came down on our altars on certain days only, some sinner, on being moved to repentance, might have to look for Him, and not finding Him, might have to wait. Our Lord prefers to wait Himself for the sinner for many years rather than keep him waiting for one instant.

He also stated:

How kind is our Sacramental Jesus! He welcomes you at any hour of the day or night. His love never knows rest. He is always most gentle towards you. When you visit Him, He forgets you sins and speaks only of His joy, His tenderness, and His Love. By the reception He gives you, one would think He has need of you to make Him happy.

The saints reaped great benefits from their devotion to adoration. If you Google, “saint, quotes, adoration”, you will get a multitude of great quotes to inspire you to greater devotion. The saints figured out that, like most things with God, you get more than you give. Your hours in Adoration will bring you great blessing. Go visit that loved one, the one that has not seen you in several weeks.
